Summertime In The Backyard

There is always lots of activity in our backyard garden during the summer.  Flowers bloom in a kaleidoscope of colors. Woodland ferns and groundcovers abound.   Chickadee families move into the birdhouse and spend their hours busily carrying food home from the feeders.  Bees buzz from flower to flower.  Hummingbirds zip around defending their territory and hover about the blooms in the garden.  Tomatoes and cucumbers ripen on the vine.  Raspberries and strawberries mark the start of jam making season.  Kids  hunt for bugs and slugs and spend lazy sunday afternoons in the wading pool, blowing bubbles, or playing hide and seek among the tall trees. Adults sit in the sun or shade and enjoy the breeze.   It's a busy time of the year for everyone.  But we take time to enjoy it while we can because in just a few more weeks autumn will arrive.  I hope you are enjoying your summer too!
